God’s Promotion for Demotion

By Shelly-Ann Powell

“So Haman went out that day joyful and with a glad heart; but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, and that he did not stand or tremble before him, he was filled with indignation against Mordecai,”   Esther 5:9.

Sometimes God will promote in order to demote.  He will sometimes set you up so He can set you down.

God allowed Haman to be promoted to prominence for a season by king Ahasuerus.  However, when Mordecai did not respond to their commands and expectations, Haman plotted and intended to wipe out Esther’s uncle Mordecai and the Jews by getting the king to come in agreement with a written decree.

When Mordecai heard of what took place he went into fasting, weeping in sackcloth and ashes.

To make the matter of what had happened known to the king (for Esther was of a Jewish background), Esther met with the king and arranged a banquet of which involved King Ahasuerus and Haman.

When Haman learnt of this arrangement He left the presence of the king and queen with joy and glad heart but when he saw Mordecai in the King’s gate, and that Mordecai did not tremble before him, he was filled with anger.

Sometimes your enemies will become angry and bitter towards you, because you do not react or respond the way they were expecting you to.

When you will not crumble or fall apart before your enemies as they are hoping or expecting you to, they become enraged because the thought of you being strong, holding it together or progressing makes them insignificant, inferior and powerless.

Because of their deception and false illusion of themselves of who they think you are (less than or a nobody), they reduce who you are as a defense mechanism, in order to allow themselves to feel better about themselves.

I want to encourage you tonight, to never allow people on a whole (enemies, friends, families whoever) to make you feel like you are a nobody or less than.

This is the reason it is important to know who you are in Christ, and to have a healthy self-esteem of yourself.

They may expect you to fall apart or crumble because of what you are going through, but just know when you have made Jesus Lord of your life and you know who you are, nothing they try will be able to phase you.

Sometimes, because of our human nature, we may tend to feel some way, but remember how you feel is not always reality, this is what you have to learn the art of mastering.

People should not be able to make you feel any less of a person because of what they said or are doing.

People are going to always do and say.  At the end of the day, what God says about you is MOST important and it is all that really matters.

Will you use what they do and say to build or break you?

It is a matter of choice.  My advice to you is to allow it to build you.

We all have a path to walk, just make sure you walk your path and walk it like it should be walked.

Always use the stones thrown at you to go and grow higher.  Never be the one who throws pity parties or the one who feels sorry for him or herself, rather pick yourself up and be the best person you could ever be.

Here is something to top it off; nobody can beat you at being you.

There is none like you, if you notice even your finger prints are different.

What does that say?

It means you are rare, you are unique and most importantly you are loved.

How and what people think or feel about you does not define who you are, rather it defines who they are.
