America, This Is Your Wake-Up Call

By Greg Laurie

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.

—Psalm 33:12

Revival—could it ever happen again? Could we have another Jesus Movement? Or, are the best days of the United States behind us? I don’t think the ultimate need of this nation will be solved by the White House or members of Congress. I think the real need for America will be met by a spiritual solution. We really need to pray.

America needs to pay attention, because God may give us exactly what we want. I read about an interesting new alarm clock called the Wake ’n Bacon. You wake up in the morning to the amazing smell of bacon. I think it’s time for America to wake up and smell the bacon. As we look at end times events in the Bible, it’s alarming not to find the reigning superpower on the face of the earth in the last days chain of events. We can certainly find the nation Israel. We can find the nation Iran. I think a case could be made for Russia and perhaps China. But where is the reigning superpower, the United States of America?

Every nation has a life span. Every nation has a beginning, a middle, and an end. The might of ancient Babylon lasted for 86 years. The powerful Persian empire did a bit better at 208 years. The glory of Greece was eclipsed after 268 years. Mighty Rome ruled for almost nine centuries. The British Empire endured for some 250 years in her great power.

The United States of America is 242 years old and counting. Every nation’s days are numbered. The Bible says, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34 NKJV). If we turn from righteousness, if we forget God, and even worse, if we rebel against God, we will face the consequences.

God is obviously not finished with us, so we must draw close to the Lord and ask. Give Him all your burdens beloved. Give Him your loneliness & draw close.

Yes, I will pray for you beloved. I know exactly how you feel. In fact most of us if not all of us fight loneliness. Jesus said, He will never leave us!
