for Our Nation: Saving a Place for the Righteous"
By Michael Van Vlymen
In these times
of uncertainty and confusion, aren't you glad that God's people need not be uncertain or confused? As the world around us seems to spiral out of control, with voices speaking from every side telling us how we should think and believe, it is so wonderful to
have the Holy Spirit to give us truth and direction. We need not fear as we listen to His voice and obey, taking comfort in His great love for us!
"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1 KJV)
Keeping Our Focus
There are so many people presenting their arguments
and opinions, trying to sway us to "their side." As God's people, we should never lose sight of the fact that "our side" is the Lord's and whatever He is doing or saying. I am very much reminded of Joshua's encounter with the angel of the Lord in the book
"And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to
Him, 'Are You for us or for our adversaries?'" (Joshua 5:13 NKJV)
For a moment, Joshua seems to have lost sight of his true identity and purpose, but the angel quickly reminds him and Joshua changes his
"So He said, 'No, but as Commander of the army of the LORD I have now come.' And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, 'What does my Lord say to His servant?'" (Joshua
Staying in close relationship to the Lord keeps our focus correct.
A Powerful Dream and Encounter
Very recently, the Lord took me into a dream where I was standing in a large building that was actually a meeting hall of some sort. There were perhaps four hundred seats arranged in rows that were filled with people of every kind, color and background.
There were rich and there were poor, yet all were bound together in unity by the fact that they were all righteous Believers. They were those who loved and honored God above all else.
I felt honored to
be there even though at the time I did not know why I was there. I knew there were only so many seats and the Lord had given me one. As I walked around the group, I stepped outside to see what was happening. On the grounds, the surrounding countryside, there
were people standing as far as the eye could see, who had come to witness what was going to take place.
I spoke to an angel whom I saw standing close by and I told him that I was excited to be there for
this occasion. He explained to me:
"You will not be here for the meeting. Your job is to occupy and save the seats for those righteous leaders who are destined to be here. You are holding their place for
them. When the time comes, you will give them your seat."
It was only when the angel said the word "leaders" that I had the revelation of what was happening.
The Lord Explained
After coming out of the dream, the Lord spoke to me about it. He told me that we, as Believers who are praying and interceding for our nation, are literally standing in the
gap and holding a place for the righteous to come and take their place to lead. The Lord told me that what I was seeing in this dream was the present reality. God's people are praying.
I further felt in
my spirit that even having been shown this, we are not to get complacent, but rather continue to be vigilant to uphold our nation and our leaders in prayer.
"Confess your trespasses to one another, and
pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." (James 5:16 NKJV)
Lord showed me these things that we might be encouraged to stay the course and stand knowing that He hears our prayers and answers them.
"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves,
and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV)
