The River of Gladness

By Deborah Waldron Fry

I saw a Believer on his knees, his face to the ground.

His heart was broken over many things.  His mind was in confusion and turmoil.  And then, JESUS stepped into the picture.

He reached out His Hand.  He was inviting His Child to cast all his cares on Him and to “Come and play in the River once again.  Come ALIVE in the River for My Joy is your strength!” 😃

“Beloved.  Why are you so downcast, My Child?  Let not your heart be troubled.  I AM your warm Oasis in the midst of a cold dark world.

Step into the Glorious River flowing from the Throne of your God and the Lamb.  Come ALIVE in the River.  It is the River of Gladness.

Take off your shoes that are full of the dust of the world and run barefoot once again into My River of Life.  I will wash off the dust of this world and fill you to overflowing with my Spirit.

I AM your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore, do not fear, though the earth trembles and the nations rage, there is a River whose streams make glad the city of your God, the Holy Place of the tabernacle of the Most High.

Fear not, My Child.  Your God is in the midst of you, you shall not be moved; I AM Your Helper, just at the break of Dawn.

The Sun is shining upon the River, My Light is dancing upon the Waters.  Come, Beloved, cast all your cares on Me and let Us run together!

Let go of those burdens and let My Joy overtake you once again!  Rejoice, Beloved!  My Kingdom is not of this world, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Come once again to the River of Peace and Joy, My Child.  Have childlike faith once again.  The King is still the King!

I AM drawing you after Me!  Come ALIVE in My River for the Joy of The LORD is your strength!”

Play : Engage in activity for enjoyment and recreation rather than a serious or practical purpose. Frolic.

Barefoot : Pure, innocent, to get back to your foundation, simplicity, as a child.

“Draw me after you; LET US RUN. The king has brought me into his chambers.  We will exult and REJOICE in you; we will extol your love more than wine; rightly do they love you,”   Song of Solomon 1:4.

“Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”  Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.”  For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, “You are not all clean,”“   John 13:9-11.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; thjough its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling.  Selah.  There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.  God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.  The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah,”   Psalm 46:1-7.

“For the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd. He will lead them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.'”   Revelation 7:17.

“Then the angel showed me a river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb,”   Revelation 22:1.

“But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven,””   Matthew 19:14.
