Grounded in His Word
Saints, we should always be people of the Holy Spirit and the Word. All of our experiences in Christ should be grounded in the Bible. This is what I have been taught and
this is what I believe. If my spiritual encounters go against the revelation of Jesus Christ as Lord, then I am suspect of those encounters.
James 1:17, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from
above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."
Generally, I lean into this thought regarding the Father. I believe that He loves me and that He
has many encounters in store for my life. The revelation that is presented throughout the Bible is the revelation that God wants us to have of Himself, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Therefore, when I encounter things by the Spirit, there will be no difference
between what the Bible presents and what I experience, because there is no shadow of turning in Christ.
Discernment and Clarity
The enemy does try
to deceive us, but He is defeated. There are times when even demonic encounters will come, but the Lord has given me, and all of His children, a Spirit of discernment to understand what is of God and what is not of God. It's not hard to discern the devil because
he comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). His weapon is fear and torment.
Many times, I have had to plead the Blood of Jesus over the things that have come against me in the night hours. I have
had to declare the Blood of Jesus over the doorposts of my house. There are times that I have had to wrestle with encounters to understand them. The enemy would like to twist the truth, but I have learned that as I continue to seek God, clarity always comes
by His Spirit into my life, and His direction and understanding become clear.
The Multiplying Rainbow: Encounters That Break the Yoke
God sends encounters
to us to strengthen us in our faith. When the glory of God comes it enlivens us and gives us hope. Fear is dismantled and we enter a new day and hour.
I have had a lot of people prophesying over me about
an increase coming to my life and ministry, even in the area of finances. I have had a few prophets speak this over me, and as I have read the Word it has also confirmed this. I also have seen this in dreams and visions. I love dreams because God often paints
pictures for me about what I am about to enter into, and the prophetic gifts in others confirms the things I have already seen.
In a recent dream, I was in an apartment building. My family was there, and
I was looking out a window. It looked like a tropical place where you would go to rest. As I stared out the window, a rainbow appeared in the sky and then began to duplicate; it was a double rainbow and then it turned into five rainbows! It was elastic looking
and moved in ways that rainbows don't move.
I understand prophetic language and know that this represents covenant and blessing from God. There is also that fantastic Scripture about the Rainbow Angel
who is described in Revelation 10. I call him the "Rainbow Angel" because the passage describes him appearing with a rainbow above his head (Revelation 10:1). I will share verses 5 and 6 which say:
"Then
the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to Heaven. He swore by the one who lives forever and ever, who created Heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it, 'There will be no more
delay...'"
When I have God encounters I am strengthened. Over the last few days I have had many bills appear on my doorsteps that I was not expecting—thousands of dollars worth. What is interesting
about the timing of these bills is that they came when I was hearing that there was an increase coming even to my finances, then suddenly money began to disappear.
It can often seem, when you receive a
word from the Lord which encourages you, that suddenly everything moves in the opposite direction. I have found that is normal in my life.
I was feeling heavy about this, and I went to bed and woke up
just past midnight still feeling stressed about all the financial situations that had arisen at once, so I went downstairs to pray. God spoke to me through a song. I heard that He was about to bless me exceedingly and abundantly. The song was playing in my
heart, and I heard it as I walked down the stairs to pray. When I understood the lyrics of that song, I knew God was saying that things would be fine. It broke the yoke.
God's Word Empowers Us
God's word is like that. Our circumstances sometimes do not change in the moment we hear God's word, but His word has a way of making the mountains seem like nothing. His word has a way of empowering me to speak to
the storms telling them to cease.
These are the issues of the heart. These are the things that we deal with on a day to day basis. It is OK to wrestle. Some people will tell you that you should have more
faith. I declare that you do have faith, and that God is speaking to you more and more. You may not feel like you are a successful person today; perhaps you might think others are hearing much more clearly than you—but that is a lie.
I declare, right now, that you will experience the goodness of God in your ears and as His revelation enters into you. You will speak to your mountains and they will go into the sea!
