Discerning Prophetic Promises and Prophetic Decrees

By Abel Praise

Prophetic promises sets you on a journey to gain victories and steward inheritances to arrive at the destination of promise.

Prophetic decrees are already established ordinances we enter by reason of already worked out covenants and judicial decisions already made by The LORD — we simply are aligned to step into its set time and enjoy the fulfillment of a word already labored for and set to be birthed.

Like Isaac entered into an already established covenant that was borne out of labor and sacrifice of Abraham.

We may receive a prophetic promise that requires our own labors, in our own timeline to bring us into several battlefields to gain several victories, as well as receive the inheritance of another’s mantle for the course — however if through negligence or sabotage we loose some battles, the prophetic promise may be delayed, contended against or come short.

One challenge with Prophetic Words is discerning which is a Prophetic Promise or a Prophetic Decree.

The Prophetic Promise will demand co-laboring to birth, because you stand at a time when you have to fulfill the covenant requirement for that word to be birthed.

On the other hand, the Prophetic Decree will demand more of our being aligned in the set time to steward its fulfillment because the covenant requirement for that prophetic decree has already been fulfilled — we simply are set up to be in its time for fulfillment.

One may receive the prophetic promise right but if the covenant requirement of obedience and stewardship is not fulfilled — either by personal negligence or sabotage by the relationships — the birthing of the promise may fall short.

Likewise, if we are so honored to step into what has been accomplished by the labors and sacrifice of others, as Solomon enjoyed through David, we owe it to others to labor in righteousness to leave a righteous inheritance in the heavens for those coming after us.
