"Go Into All the World and Preach"
"Then He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe
will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes; if they should drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick,
and they will get well.'" (Mark 16:15-18)
Hungry for Miracles
Mark 16 is a Scripture that I have desired to fulfill in my life for a long time. When
I first read the Bible as a teenager, this Scripture began to challenge me. I felt the call to go to the nations, even then. I have wanted to see miracles for 30 years.
At this point in my life, I can
honestly say that I have seen hundreds of miracles as I have traveled the world and preached the Gospel. Even through the internet we have seen hundreds of miracles in the name of Jesus Christ. Not everyone sees these miracles of course, but many do. More
importantly, God does, and that is what matters the most.
Recently, I was ministering to a young man who watched his father have a heart attack and die before his eyes. This man fell to the floor and turned
purple. He had no pulse. This left a real black mark on this young man's life. Thankfully, Jesus intervened and resurrected his dad.
Getting to the Root of Trauma
His sister, who loved Jesus and had faith, prayed for their dad and he came back to life, which is absolutely amazing, but that young man, in that moment, began to fear death. The devil told him that he would die just like he saw his dad die. He
constantly had panic attacks and fear because of what occurred. It paralyzed him. He couldn't keep a job and He didn't know how to function without alcohol and drugs. Even though he grew up in a Christian home, he did not have the spiritual stamina nor the
understanding of how to overcome this problem.
I prayed for him and we got to the root of the trauma. He was delivered and set free. I listened to him sob and cry as the spirit of death that had come upon
him, when he witnessed his father's heart attack, left him the day I prayed for him. I asked him to remember the moment when he saw his dad die and we asked God together to give him a different picture of that moment. He cried and said that he saw Jesus holding
his dad, and He was helping him come back to life.
These are the Mark 16 moments that I longed for but didn't really imagine. I am so thankful for the power that comes in Jesus' name. Maybe some
of you are facing the same things. My belief is that you will be delivered.
Go and Preach
There are people that I chat with, all the time, who ask
me to tell them what their ministry is all about. I always get upset with such a question because the Bible is so clear that we are just to go and preach. We are to release the life-giving message of Jesus to whomever we encounter. Some do this all the time,
they don't need permission. The Gospel is so strong inside of them that they can't help but just tell the whole world about God.
That is the way it was with me. God exploded inside of me and started spilling
out everywhere I went. I used to be afraid to say the name of Jesus and then suddenly the fear was gone. There are others who are bolder than me, but I am very bold with the Gospel. As a result, I have seen the things that follow the preaching of the Word,
like the deliverance I described above.
I use to work in the Canadian government. There was an unwritten rule there that you were not allowed to tell people about Jesus. I said to the Lord when I got my
job, "God, You put me in this place. They are telling me that I will get fired if I speak the name of Jesus. That is Your problem, not mine." I then proceeded to speak the name of Jesus to everyone I met. I saw many miracles as a result.
My boss came to me once and complained about my evangelism. She said, "You are not allowed to tell people about your religion here." I prayed again and said to the Lord, "Lord if they fire me I will still speak Your name." And I did.
A Lesson in Values and Ethics
One week later, I was in a course called "Values and Ethics." Our entire unit had to take that course, including the boss that had
lectured me the week before. I sat there and listened to a professor teach, who came from a Christian University. It wasn't bad – I was surprised because government courses had a bad reputation. (Photo via Unsplash)
The professor, not knowing what I went through the week before, just blurted out, "I think it is awful how you people in government tell each other that you are not allowed to talk about your faith." I was shocked. My boss looked over at me with
the wildest look on her face.
He continued, "Don't you know that a person is healthier when they are allowed to be their whole selves and not hide who they really are?" This professor came like an angel
and broke a foul spirit off of that unit. My boss started to act differently and even came to me after that for spiritual encouragement.
It doesn't matter where you are in the world, God can use you (and
will) if you decide to be used. Just believe and trust God. Ask Him for opportunities to minister and boldly step out when you do. God is able to make all grace abound in your life.
I pray for you today
and ask God to use you powerfully. Some of you have had visions and dreams about being used. Don't give up. God will make it happen. You can do it. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
