If God is for me . . . who can be against me?

Dream Encounters

In the book of Genesis chapter 28, Isaac told Jacob to go to Padan Aram to get a wife. Jacob went on this journey as his father requested. When the sun went down he stopped to get some sleep. He put his head upon a stone and had a dream, which was not just an ordinary dream, but it was a prophetic dream/encounter. In this dream the Lord showed Jacob a ladder going up into heaven with angels ascending and descending upon it and the Lord standing above it. He then gave Jacob a promise, which was similar to the promise that He gave to his grandfather Abraham.

As I was reading this, the Holy Spirit quickened verse fifteen to me where the Lord said to him:  "I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you." When Jacob awoke from his sleep he said,  "Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it." And he was afraid and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is The Gate of Heaven!"

The Holy Spirit wants to give us awesome encounters in dreams. The Lord spoke to people in dreams and visions throughout the bible and He is still speaking today. He put Abraham into a deep sleep to make a covenant with him, He gave Abimelech a warning dream not to touch Sarah because she was Abraham’s wife. He gave Joseph a dream which we all know as “Joseph’s coat of many colors”. Through a series of events Joseph was brought from the pit to the palace. During this time he interpreted Pharaoh's dreams as well as his cupbearer and baker's dreams.

Many of you don’t realize that it was in a dream that Solomon asked for wisdom. The Lord said to Solomon: Whatever you want I will give to you. Solomon asked for wisdom (in a dream) and the Lord replied: Because you have not asked for long life or riches and honor or the lives of your enemies, I will also give you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days and if you keep my ways as your father David did, I will lengthen your days.

The Lord will give us favor through dreams. He gave King Nebuchadnezzar a dream in which Daniel interpreted and when he did Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face, prostrate before Daniel and said to him: “Truly your God is the God of gods, the Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, since you could reveal this secret.” He then promoted Daniel, gave him gifts and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief administrator over all the wise men of Babylon.

This part is really amazing. We are all familiar with the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego as the men in the fiery furnace. At Daniels request the king appointed Daniels friends Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego to be administrators over the province of Babylon, while Daniel himself remained at the royal Kings court. Daniel also had many visions, revelations and encounters of the end times.

In the New Testament it was in a dream that the Lord sent an angel to Joseph and told him not to be afraid and to take Mary as his wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. Pilate's wife had a nightmare convincing her that Jesus was the Messiah. The Lord also gave Peter a vision while praying on a rooftop showing him that he is not bound by the law and not to call anything unclean. God spoke to John on the island of Patmos in the book of Revelation.

He received encounters with visions and revelations of the end times. In the book of Acts Peter stood up in the Upper Room and quoted the prophecy from Joel 2:28-29. We are living in a time when many people are receiving dreams from heaven. Many of you don’t realize that some of your dreams are prophetic in nature. They are directional dreams, destiny dreams and warning dreams. They are dreams to instruct you, heal you and encourage you. The enemy will also try to counterfeit this and bring dreams of fear, confusion and delusion.

We are in a season of hearing the voice of God in a profound way. Jesus is speaking to us from His word, in dreams, as well as in everyday life. The Holy Spirit will also reveal the gates of heaven to you in your dreams. He is inviting you to come up to a higher place where you will receive visions and heavenly encounters, He wants to give those of you who are mature in your faith promotions to new levels of authority. He is releasing keen discernment as well as wisdom. Its time to receive all that Jesus has for you in this time and season. Do not fear the supernatural, because Jesus said that His sheep will know His voice, and the voice of a stranger they will not follow.

Genesis 28:16

Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, "Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it." And he was afraid and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!"

1 Kings 3:5-15

At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask! What shall I give you?”

Matthew 1:18-20

But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
