The Difference

By Kathy Mote

The difference between Christianity and every other religion in the world is our beliefs are based on His interaction with us while in religion, people believe and practice what man has taught them. What we believe is what He tells us. This is our relationship with Him as we are called to Him, and what He says to us heals us.

What He does in us is not religion. As we abide in Him, hear Him and trust Him, it is His presence that changes us. So religion is what man does for himself, but bringing us to Life is what God does in us.

Ok, I hate to nag, but I will obey Him. Deeply embedded thinking will be erased as the truth of this message hits home, and some won't even see it coming.

The people we read about in the Bible all had one thing in common. They had an encounter with the living God, He called them and sent them and they obeyed Him. We read about what they said and did, and we emulate their lives, thinking that the same things are expected of us. But obeying Him is not a religion. Being sent by Him requires hearing Him, but our first calling is to seek Him.

One thing we need to remember is the people we read about are not our example. His leading is what we follow. Whatever our calling may be, it is not obeyed by emulating people who walked with Him. For Him to be present in all we say and do, we need to hear and obey Him. As He calls us, walking with Him is our response to Him.

This is calling Him Lord in everything you say and do. As you seek Him, you will find yourself flowing in His presence, not imitating someone else's anointing. Let Him flow into you. That is how He will change and flow through you. His greatest Lights have yet to be seen, but they will rise as they are changed in His presence.

Yesterday in the wee hours of the morning, I saw a vision of a slate blue, loose weave cardigan sweater. I loved the look of this sweater! It was oversized with drop shoulders and looked warm and cozy.

I have had trouble keeping warm lately. I assume it's from my insulin levels dropping. As your blood sugar drops, so does your core body temp.

But I went back to sleep and I forgot all about it. Later in the day when I went to Walmart to get bread, I passed by the women's clothing section. There on a rack next to the aisle, was that exact same sweater the Lord showed me.

I stopped and stared as my jaw dropped open. That's my sweater! The price tag read just under $18. No problem. So I got it and took it home, my new, beautiful treasure.

Today I am wearing a comfy, slate blue sweater that is perfect for fall, winter and spring weather. And where I am not pretty, this sweater sure is. I'm praising God for covering me with His love as He looks out for me.

Carnal Thinking

By Kathy Mote

Carnal thinking is that every promise we decide to receive is our choice, and that we receive as we believe. We read, we accept, we believe, we receive. But carnal thinking is backwards and it doesn't understand Him. We are invited to believe and receive Him. In His presence, receiving is our response to Him. Carnal thinking's problem is it only sees itself, but it doesn't see or know or honor Him.

So what are we actually 'receiving'? In our flesh, we must surely be talking about what we think the Bible means, or maybe we are talking about what we want any given promise to mean. But what we actually are invited to receive is Him and the promise of Life in Him. We do that by trusting Him. He said in our carnal mind we cannot imagine what we read.

Jesus is the only one who can fulfill God's promise of Life, and what He is doing is bringing us to Life. What we see as we receive Him is our response to being brought to Life. We were never invited to live by chapter and verse. We can't. We don't bring them to pass. The scriptures refer to Him, and what He will do in us as He brings us to our Father, filled with our Father's heart.

Carnal thinking always begins and ends with what we do. It says, I choose, I think, I believe, I receive by my faith, and what that means is 'I bring it to pass by believing it.'

But by His Spirit, it is the Lord doing a great work in us. He is the one who gives Life as we accept Him. Those who believe in their own faith in the Bible have left the Lord out of it. But our salvation is our personal relationship with Him.

The whole point of everything written of Him is to tell us that He is God's Word for us and He is the one who brings God's will to pass. Only the humble truly know that. To surrender your heart to Him and trust Him is to accept God's Word in every matter. That is what calling Him Lord is.
