His Caring For You Is Carrying
You
By Thomas Downes
If you ever raised children, in their early years you almost always heard them say, “Pick
me up, Daddy” or “Pick me up, Mommy.”
As they grew bigger, they became a bit more like weight lifting; no matter where you and your family went, you became a little bit stronger from
the seemingly perpetual lifting of your children.
Over thirty five years ago we went to Mammoth Cave, Kentucky. It’s a very beautiful cave complex of over 600 miles of caves.
As we began our descent into the main entrance of the cave, my then little daughter decided she couldn’t stand the walking.
So, of course, Daddy-O had to launch her onto his shoulders
for the ride. After the first mile or so we came upon a large cavernous area where there was an underground restaurant. It’s Ice Cream Time, and a break from the carrying.
Our tour guide encouraged
us all to begin walking again after about fifteen minutes. So my daughter jumped back on her horse, (me, of course), and we continued our journey; through many low ceilings and odd shaped openings, around huge boulders with very narrow passageways, up steep
steps, down steep steps, all while carrying her on my shoulders.
We came to different stops along the way where the guide would tell us about the beautiful formations, and the minerals that caused the
different colors.
He told us about the formation of stalactites and stalagmites. When they came together they are called “mighty-tights” (Well, go figure!).
Our Father always picks us up when the climb is difficult.
We may not physically see Him, but through His Son, Jesus, and by revelation by the Spirit of The LORD, He has been carrying you all
through your life.
He has sent forth His Word, Jesus, to not only heal us, but also to deliver us from destruction.
He allows us to go through these
things in our lives to actually SHOW us He is carrying us.
He says, “Even to your old age I am He, even to gray hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear, even I will carry you, and deliver
you.” (Isaiah 46:4).
Can you trust Him now for this?
“For whosoever will call upon The LORD will be delivered.” Joel 2:32, Romans
10:13, Acts 2:21, Isaiah 66:13.
“As One whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; and you will be comforted in Jerusalem.” Isaiah 66:13.
“Trust
in The LORD with all of your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; acknowledge Him in all you do and He will direct your path.” Proverbs 3: 5-6.
