Healing the Body of Christ

By Robert Blackburn

The human body is the most intricately designed creation ever imagined.

It is the most fine-tuned instrument known to us. Every part has it’s particular function and none is without special purpose.

How it all works together is nothing short of miraculous; in fact, it is a miracle. The brain itself and how it operates is beyond our greatest imagination.

It is so because the Creator of all, made it so. It’s all His.

The Body of Christ was also designed in such a manner. From the beginning, it was all set up to grow, sustain and produce to its full potential. And lest we forget, it was paid for with a dear price.

While Jesus was here, He demonstrated how it was to perform; He gave power to his disciples to do the same things He did.

They truly showed us what we were to do, and how to do it. His Apostles followed with the full power and the genuine demonstration of the Holy Ghost. It was all set in order.

The five ministries listed were for the perfecting of the Saints first. Each one was given its own special place and function within the Body. Though it may yet sound mundane to many, there is no place in scripture where these ministries were to be taken out.

What was set in order, was to remain there. They were structured for the purpose of the ministry and to bring the Body into the fullness that was planned from the beginning.

Every single piece of this creation, was declared as equally important as all the others. I believe it said that all these parts were “fitly joined together.”

If this great Body somehow became disjointed, in any way, we did it. We must stop here and proclaim that Jesus Christ paid everything for His body.

What He went through, the terrible way He died and the persecution and all the suffering he endured, was for a reason. And He had no intention of returning for a weak, under-developed, poorly nourished Bride. He refuses some lesser form.

The Gifts of the Spirit were meant for the Body.

All of these manifestations of the Holy Ghost were to be in perfect working order; absolute operation.

The Elders wrote about those who would oppress or suppress such divine operations. They called them false brethren, false apostles and false teachers.

Paul warned of such kind coming into the churches to thwart the true work of God. They would all hinder the strength of the Body.

I see two people I love dearly and have known them all of my life. Many years back when they were young people, they were betrayed.

I look into their faces today and I can see something. Discerning of Spirits was placed in the Body for a good reason. You can see through the Spirit, what others cannot.

Those with the genuine discernment that comes with the Holy Ghost, are also able to see and know both good and bad. These two people, never recovered. They remain only a shell of the joyful, excited individuals they once were.

We should have healed them; a long time ago. Even a bit earlier as I felt moved to write this, I already felt a push back. It’s from that spirit in people who say, oh, you need to just get over it.

This is the answer that I feel for them. I pray that the next time they go to The LORD in deep hurt or anguish over some disaster or problem that has come upon them, they don’t get the same reply back.

They couldn’t get over it; they tried.

There’s more than one gift of healing. Jesus healed every kind of disease and sickness. He healed all kind of emotional illnesses and broken people.

He told us clearly that He came to heal the broken-hearted and those so terribly wounded. That’s me.

That’s many of you. We wouldn’t before; will we now. Find those who have these gifts; let them perform and operate what the Spirit placed in them.

The true Body of Christ is supposed to heal itself; it needs freedom to do so.
