Yesterday the Lord promised to reveal His purpose in my suffering. I tried to grasp what He was saying but I must admit, I ran ahead of Him assuming many things instead of waiting on Him.

He stopped me from ever doing this again by saying, Kid, your brain is as big as a box of matchsticks.

Taken literally, without revelation of what He meant, I would have found that disheartening, and maybe even insulting. But coming from God it was more than correction. It was an explanation.

We assume we know what our Father means when He speaks to us about the suffering in our life, but He is lifting us out of our weakness that we might know His heart and walk in it. To follow Him, we accept His purpose in our need of Him. He reveals His desire to raise us by His presence in us. This is about far more than our desires for our natural life.

His presence in us is the revelation of Him. That was the purpose of revealing our weakness, and as He brought us to Him, every step we took we were entering into covenant with Him. He is above all faithful.

As I realized this, I looked again at what He had shown me, which was a small box containing three matches, and my heart was ablaze for Him. That is how we receive Him. Because it isn't being given a perfect life that brings us to Him, it is receiving Him that brings us to Him.

Overflowing with thanks to our Papa to receive a full belly and a glass of cold water from Him through my sister's heart and words.
