"Living Water Will Flow from Washington DC"

By Jay West

Between a Rock and a Hard Place

I was recently attending a night of worship when I heard the word "Kadesh" spoken in my mind. I did not recognize the word, nor did I recall ever hearing it before. I presumed it must be from the Bible, so I did an internet search on my phone and discovered that it is the Hebrew word for the location where Moses struck the rock and water came out of it. Then the Lord began to speak.

He asked me, "How hard is a rock?" Before I could answer, He went on to say, "Many people are between a rock and a hard place right now. They are in the middle of so many difficult situations, and everywhere they turn it seems to be hard. Paul said in 2 Corinthians 7:5, 'For indeed, when we came to Macedonia, our bodies had no rest, but we were troubled on every side. Outside were conflicts, inside were fears.' In other words, no matter which way Paul turned, there were major obstacles, and on top of that, he was dead-dog tired. When you are weary and tired, the hard places seem even harder."

Washington DC – From a Rock to a River

God went onto remind me that Washington DC is filled with buildings made out of rock and stone. Most of it is granite and marble; and the Bible says, "It is not the spiritual that comes first, but the physical, and then the spiritual" (1 Corinthians 15:46) – so Washington DC has become a hard place. But He assured me that living water will again flow there in the future.

Moses was commanded to speak to the rock, but he was disobedient and hit the rock with the rod. Even so, God still caused water to flow from a hard place that normally did not produce water. The Lord further reminded me that if we don't praise Him, the very rocks will cry out and worship Him. Psalm 150:6 says that everything that has life and breath will praise the Lord. Rocks don't have life and breath, and rocks were not made to worship the Lord, but all things are possible with God. Rocks can worship and water can flow from them.

Washington DC, with its many rock-like buildings, can worship God, and living water can once again flow from this city to our nation and to the world. Jesus is the Rock! When Jesus becomes the Rock of Washington DC, the "Rock miracles" will start to manifest, including a flow of water, initially appearing like a trickle but then becoming a brook, and then a stream and ultimately a river – yes, a river of revival sweeping through our land, and touching many nations too!

Fountains, Rivers and Swamps

John 4:14 declares, "But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life." And in John 7:38 we read, "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."

Fountains are for individual use. I have several fountains outside and inside of my home, and each one is primarily for my own enjoyment and my own use. They provide a sense of calm and peace, while providing personal joy and contentment. I can control the volume of water, the spray head, and the overall appearance.

On the other hand, rivers are for everyone's use. At the river you will see people fishing, water skiing, boating, swimming and walking beside the river for personal enjoyment. The river is full of life and flowing for all to enjoy. Rivers are for everyone's use.

There is one other body of water that is not so healthy, and that is a swamp. The swamp is full of creatures that devour each other. The swamp has little movement. The difference between a river and a swamp is "flow." In order for a river to sustain life, water must flow in and out to create this life. When that does not occur, you have a swamp. DC has become swamp-like.

The swamp devours everything, but the river restores and replenishes everything. As Jesus resumes His headship in Washington DC, as the true Rock in a city made out of rock, first you will see fountains of living water flowing to those who work and live there. But as this miracle continues, rivers of living water will flow to the entire nation and ultimately the world. It may presently seem like Washington DC has become a swamp and looks like it is between a rock and a hard place, but God has a plan.

Nevertheless, God!

And like Moses who disobeyed, so Washington DC has disobeyed, but the Word of God will accomplish that to which He has sent it and it will not return void. Water can and will still come forth. After Paul's admission in 2 Corinthians 7:5 about being troubled on every side, the next verse says, "Nevertheless, God..." That phrase can simply mean to never settle for anything less than God. God brought comfort to Paul through Titus. God will bring comfort to our nation's capitol through Jesus, who is the Rock of our salvation. Don't settle for anything less.

There is a plan of restoration for Washington DC, and there is a plan to see revival rivers flow throughout the nation. It may look like we are currently between a rock and a hard place, but God sees it as the perfect place for a miracle to happen. Nevertheless God!

A Heavenly Vantage Point

I was recently given a very unusual dream. In the dream God downloaded 8 videos to my phone, all of them showing different angles and scenes displaying the actual ascension of Jesus with the opportunity to share them with others. I watched each one over and over, and the videos were added into my growing list of amazing "Heaven Encounters."

The dream of these videos connected to my reality in life. Each video depicted a different scene on the day of ascension as if filmed by someone who was there. Seven of these were filmed from the earth looking upward towards Heaven, but one was filmed looking downward from Heaven.

I believe part of the application and interpretation of the dream is that God sees Jesus rising in Washington DC and in America. We may not see it presently, but He sees the beginning from the end, and His viewpoint is radically different from ours. He desires for us to have the "Heaven" vantage point of seeing America rise up with flowing, living water. If a rock can cry out in worship, and if a rock can produce miraculous water, so too can a city such as Washington DC become a city with living water, flowing like a river for all who will jump in.

Remember, the river is for everyone's use. Expect revival.

Dear Jesus, You are my Rock. I believe that You want living water to flow from You to me, and then to others. It may seem like I am between a rock and a hard place, but I desire to experience the rivers of God in my life. Please deliver me from a swamp-like attitude and a swamp-like viewpoint and raise my vision to see what You want me to become. I want to elevate my vision and ascend to Your level.

I thank You now that the fountains of life are beginning to bubble up and that soon rivers will flow from me. I am counting on living water to flow from You as my Rock and my salvation. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.
