MEDITATIONS ON THE TRUE CHRISTIAN LIFE
By Glenn H. Jackson
of the law [the Word of God] shall not depart from [always be in] your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful [take heed] to do according
to all that is written in it; for THEN you will make your way prosperous, and THEN you will have success".... Joshua 1:8 NASB
THE SOULICAL AND THE SPIRITUAL
[part 2 of 6]
* ...."Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that
he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain".... 1 Corinthians 3:18-20 KJV
...."See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according
to Christ".... Colossians 2:8 NASB
____Not only can the soulical person not receive the things of God, they even regard them as folly. According to the valuation of their mind, matters known by intuition
are downright foolishness because they are all unreasonable, against human nature, contrary to "worldly wisdom", or in conflict with common sense. The mind delights in whatever is logical, open to analysis, and psychologically appealing. God, however, is not
governed by man's "law" and hence His actions are folly to the soulical.
____The folly mentioned in this particular chapter unquestionably refers to the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus. The word of the Cross speaks
not only of the Saviour Who died in our stead but, also, of the believers who have died with the Saviour. Everything naturally belonging to believers must go through the death of the Cross. The mind may accept this as a theory, but it SURELY will oppose it
as a practice.
