The New Covenant Produces New Creations, Created After God

In True Righteousness and Holiness

By Pieter Kirstein

You know if we still lived by the 10 commandments which declares that we must be stoned to death, if caught in the act of adultery or murder then all of us would've been dead.

How many times do we break the 10 commandments every day multiple times because of sinful hearts and unrenewed minds?

Are we all not exactly like the woman caught in adultery in John 8: 3  And the scribes and Pharisees brought to him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the middle,

4  They say to him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

5  Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what say you?

6  This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

7  So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said to them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

8  And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

9  And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the oldest, even to the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the middle.

10  When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said to her, Woman, where are those your accusers? has no man condemned you?

11  She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said to her, Neither do I condemn you: go, and sin no more.

The new doctrines of Christ spoken in Matthew 5, clearly not only overrides the 10 commandments, but announced the new standard of the righteousness of the New Covenant, which is far higher.

Matthew 5:21  You have heard that it was said of them of old time, You shall not kill and whoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

 22

 But I say to you

That whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whoever shall say, You fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

 23  Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has ought against you;

24  Leave there your gift before the altar, and go your way; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

25  Agree with your adversary quickly, whiles you are in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.

26  Truly I say to you, You shall by no means come out there, till you have paid the uttermost farthing.

Can you see that His standard is much higher than the laws of Moses?

Let's look at the next one

27  You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shall not commit adultery:

 28

 But I say to you

That whoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Christ clearly declares a New Covenant with new standards and laws, but the difference is that now through the born-again seed by which we are regenerated and supernaturally born into the family of the Father, we can begin to undergo the transformation of SPIRITUAL GROWTH.

God is into renewing the hearts and minds of His people, as we willingly submit ourselves to pass under the rod of the Father's chastisement and discipline as disciplined disciples,

otherwise legalistic rules and regulations will never work and this is why we read in Romans 8:

1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death (THE LAW OF SIN AND DEATH REFERS TO THE 10 COMMANDMENTS, BECAUSE GOD GAVE THE LAWS OF MOSES TO EXPOSE THE SINFULNESS OF MAN)

We see this in Romans 7:7  What should we say, then? Is the Law sinful? Of course not! In fact, I wouldn’t have become aware of sin if it had not been for the Law. I wouldn’t have known what it means to covet if the Law had not said, “You must not covet.”

8  But sin seized the opportunity provided by this commandment and produced in me all kinds of sinful desires, since apart from the Law, sin is dead. (IF THERE WAS NO LAWS THAT DECLARED SIN TO BE SIN, THEN I WOULDN'T BE GUILTY OF ANYTHING)

Let's read further to discover the power of the New Covenant.

Romans 8:3  For what the law could not do

(THE LAW CANNOT TRANSFORM THE MAN THAT IS BORN INTO SIN AND WHO IS A SINNER BY NATURE, BECAUSE OF THE FALL OF ADAM)

in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh  -

THIS MEANS THAT CHRIST DIED IN THE PLACE OF THE GUILTY AND THROUGH HIS SACRIFICE GOD'S JUSTICE REQUIRED THROUGH THE LAW WAS SATISFIED. THIS IS HOW JESUS FULFILLED THE LAW.

4  That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit -

NOW WE BEGIN TO OPERATE BY THE POWER OF THE SPIRIT AND WE LEARN TO WALK AFTER THE WILL, THE INFLUENCE AND TRANSFORMATION WORK OF THE SPIRIT, BECAUSE UNLESS HE WORKS CHANGE INTO SINFUL MAN, WE'LL ALWAYS BE PRISONERS OF SIN.

5  For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

6  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

9  But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

10  And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness -

WE RECEIVE FORGIVENESS WHEN WE RECEIVE JESUS AS LORD AND SAVIOR AND HE GIVES HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS TO US BECAUSE HE ALREADY FULFILLED THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE JUSTICE OF THE LAW. HE BREATHS LIFE INTO OUR DEAD SPIRITS THROUGH THE BORN-AGAIN EXPERIENCE AND WE COME ALIVE AS NEW CREATION CHILDREN OF THE FATHER.

12  Therefore, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

13  For if you live after the flesh, you shall die: but if you through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live -

WE DISCOVER THE NEW LIFE IN CHRIST AS BORN-AGAIN CHILDREN IN THE WAY OF THE CROSS  AS WE CRY OUT TO HIM TO DESTROY THE SINFUL FLESHLY NATURE OF THE FALLEN ADAM IN US.

This is a work that only the Spirit of God can accomplish in us and remember that it's not a legalistic thing because we are under grace and we have a very loving, kind and merciful Father and High Priest Jesus like it's said in Hebrews 10:16  For it is clear that He did not come to help angels. No, He came to help Abraham’s descendants, 17  thereby becoming like His brothers in every way, so that He could be a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God and could atone for the people’s sins. 18  Because He himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted.

The Holy Spirit explained that now under the new covenant, He supernaturally works change, deliverance, healing and transformation into God's people. He continues to change us through the power of His truth, like a loving potter, until we reflect the glory, the nature, the likeness and the image of Jesus Christ the Word of God.

Him writing His laws in our hearts and minds is the standard of righteousness declared by Jesus through the Sermon on the Mount, not the legalistic laws written on tablets of stone, for they were powerless to change anyone, because of the sinful nature of unredeemed man.

The ten commandments does not put the incorruptible seed of God into His born-again children and Moses is not our Messiah. Through Christ we are divorced from the law  -

 Romans 7

1  Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?

2  For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.

3  So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

4  Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of the Messiah; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto YHWH.

this fruitfulness is spoken of in John 15 , Mark 4 and Hebrews 12 and in Galatians 5 this fruitful Christ likeness is declared as the fruits of His Spirit, which is His life fully worked out and developed in the life and journey of the born-again seed

5  For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

6  But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

This inward transformation work done in us from glory to glory through the power and glory of His new covenant is declared in 2 Corinthians 3. As the Spirit works change into us by the power of His truth, we are being transformed into the image and likeness of Jesus. We ourselves becomes the very expression of the truth himself as living epistles that's been written by God.

2 Corinthians 3

1  Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?

2  Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:

3  Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of the Messiah ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living Elohim; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

4  And such trust have we through the Messiah toward YHWH:

 5  Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of YHWH;

6  Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

7  But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:

8  How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?

9  For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.

10  For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.

11  For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.

12  Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:

13  And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:

14  But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in the Messiah.

15  But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

16  Nevertheless when it shall turn to YHWH, the vail shall be taken away.

17  Now YHWH is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of YHWH is, there is liberty.

18  But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of YHWH, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of YHWH.

He does not leave us frustrated and helpless and broken and bound in the prison houses of sin and bondage.

Christ overcame hell, death and the grave, and He comes with the keys

, the answers, the power, the authority and the solutions to set the captives free.

He brings good news to the oppressed and He binds up the brokenhearted. He proclaims freedom for the captives, and release us from the darkness of Satan's prison houses.

He proclaims the year of the LORD’s favor, and the day of the vengeance of our God. Christ came to comfort all who mourn and to provide for those who grieve in Zion.

He came to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, a mantle of praise instead of a spirit of despair.”

“Then people will call them “Oaks of Righteousness”, “The Planting of the LORD”, in order to display his splendor.

Can we not then see the awesomeness and the beauty of His New Covenant?

this is so beautiful and such a testimony to the Lord's healing power and sanctification through our suffering. Much of my walk with Christ is similar to yours.
