 God Called His People Unto Holiness

By Pieter Kirstein

God called His people unto holiness.

Holiness means living a pure, unmixed life, having all traces of darkness expelled from our lives, being fully illuminated by Him as God's righteous saints, radiating the light and the glory of His holy Presence and countenance in a dark world, in which we shine like stars.

Living a daily life of repentance through Holy Spirit transformation until we conform to the likeness and image of Christ, means that we stay sensitive to the Holy Spirit to gently and lovingly lead us in the way of righteousness.

Righteousness is everything which God declares to be right, holy and true, for only in the light of His counsel can we understand the nature and the will of God.

Galatians 6

7  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap.

 8  For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

God called us out of darkness to be humble, honest, open and transparent, to allow ourselves to be fully invaded and exposed by the power of His truth, to be sanctified and conformed to the likeness, the image and the holy nature of His Son.

To be conformed to the likeness and image of a holy God means that you must humble yourself and be willing to sacrifice everything that does not bring honor and glory to the God of your salvation.

God sent His Son to us to show and demonstrate to us what a life looks like that is pleasing to the Father, because we are called to grow up in Him, until we walk and do as He did.

1 John 2:3-6

And this is how we may discern [daily, by experience] that we are coming to know Him [to perceive, recognize, understand, and become better acquainted with Him]: if we keep (bear in mind, observe, practice) His teachings (precepts, commandments).

 Whoever says, I know Him [I perceive, recognize, understand, and am acquainted with Him] but fails to keep and obey His commandments (teachings) is a liar, and the Truth [of the Gospel] is not in him.

But he who keeps (treasures) His Word [who bears in mind His precepts, who observes His message in its entirety], truly in him has the love of and for God been perfected (completed, reached maturity).

By this we may perceive (know, recognize, and be sure) that we are in Him: Whoever says he abides in Him ought [as a personal debt] to walk and conduct himself in the same way in which He walked and conducted Himself.

Acts 10:38

How God anointed and consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, in particular, curing all who were harassed and oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Ephesians 5:1-2,11-14

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is a shame even to speak of the things that they do in secret; but when anything is exposed by the light it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light.

Therefore it is said, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light.”

To live an iniquitous life is to live an unrepentant life, being arrogant and self-righteous, blinded and deceived by your own foolish opinions and standard of what  you think is right.

Isaiah 5:16

 But the Lord of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God who is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.

18  Woe unto them that draw along iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope.

Proverbs 1

20  Wisdom cries outside; she utters her voice in the streets;

 21  She cries in the chief place of gathering, in the openings of the gates; in the city she utters her words, saying,

 22  "How long will you love simplicity, simple ones? And will scorners delight in their scorning? And will fools hate knowledge?

 23  Turn back at my reproof; behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you.

 24  Because I called, and you refused to hearken, I stretched out my hand, and no one paid attention;

 25  But you have despised all my counsel and would have none of my reproof.

 26  I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes;

 27  When your calamity comes like a storm, and your destruction comes like a whirlwind, when trouble and pain come upon you,

 28  Then they shall call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me.

 29  Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the LORD,

 30  They would have none of my counsel; they despised all my correction.

 31  Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way and be filled with their own devices.

 32  For the waywardness of the simple shall slay them, and the complacency of fools destroys them.

 33  But whoever hearkens to me shall dwell safely and shall be secure without fear of harm."

Psalm 101

 3  I will set no wicked thing before my eyes. I have hated the work of those who turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

this is so beautiful and such a testimony to the Lord's healing power and sanctification through our suffering. Much of my walk with Christ is similar to yours.
