MEDITATIONS
ON THE TRUE CHRISTIAN LIFE
By Glenn H. Jackson
______...."This book of the law [the Word
of God] shall not depart from [always be in] your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful [take heed] to
do according to all that is written in it; for THEN you will make your way prosperous, and THEN you will have success".... Joshua 1:8 NASB
THE PRAYER HABIT
[part 1 of 16]
____...."pray without ceasing [remain in constant communication with God]".... 1 Thessalonians
5:17 NASB
____ ...."all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you".... Mark 11:24 NASB
*____The
names that are familiar to us in God's Westminster Abbey of the Church are the names of those who pray; men and women who have climbed the mountains of usefulness in the struggle with circumstances through prayer.
____There
is no denying that the lack of prayer is the bane of the individual member of the body of Christ.
____Jesus was a man of prayer.
____He taught prayer,
not as a slavish duty, but as a glorious privilege.
____I used to wonder why He needed to pray.
____He took His human place, and lived the human
life.
____I have a conviction that He didn't draw upon the secret resources that belonged to Him, more than it is possible for us who live and walk in His Name.
____Jesus'
ministry in healing illustrated what our prayer life may do for us.
____He didn't exercise His divine prerogatives during His three years' ministry any more than any child of God may exercise them.
____He had a human body.
____He had the limitations that go with the Incarnation.
____The believer
is a New Creation, created in Christ Jesus. He is brought into the family of God. He is an heir of God and a joint-heir with Jesus Christ.
____He is a child of God.
____The
Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in his body. Plus this, Jesus has given him the power of attorney to use His Name.
